Walking in your purpose:
The journey for Equity Leaders
Join us at the Equity Leader half day workshop, where we will convene to ignite actionable strategies to lean into the resistance and create transformational change in our schools. This gathering is a unique opportunity to dialogue about what is our work to do and decide what personal and professional fuel is needed to drive the change necessary for the success of our scholars.
My name is Robin Francis and I have worked in the field of education for over 20 years. Throughout my years I have been a classroom teacher, building principal and Director of Equity to name a few. I found my role as an Equity Leader one of the most challenging and isolating of my career. My role came with many of those “other duties as assigned” tasks that took me off my path and I began to question if I was walking in my purpose. I began to wonder if those other tasks were code for let’s not do the real work because it is too uncomfortable, too hard, and not the“right time”.
Internally, I found myself working to check boxes that never impacted the real work. Budgetary constrictions, conversations about my department staffing, and community conflict became my daily experience. My external struggle was defending the misperception of our work and the fight for its very existence. Where was the conversation and strategy that would create space for our scholars to feel they belonged and were brilliant?
In these moments I realized I could not wait for someone to make change, and I was the person I was waiting for. I knew I had to move through this work differently.
Your voice matters, your perspective is crucial, and your presence is the catalyst for transformation. Seize the opportunity to be a part of this influential community of equity leaders and aspiring equity leaders dedicated to advancing equity and shaping a better tomorrow for all.
Equity Leaders:
Does this resonate with you?
Are you working to exhaustion to only feel as if you are spinning your wheels?
Are you working in isolation?
Are you feeling like Olivia Pope without the resources?
Are you constantly educating people around how to be human?
What do you want?
Do you want to create space for healing?
Do you want to be a part of how we drive systems change?
Do you want to have the real conversation without risk?
Does your district have a clear vision for equity? Do you?
If any of these questions come up for you this workshop is for you.
Using the Open Space Workshop methodology, we will engage in dynamic conversation designed to deepen our understanding of the work that we must do to drive positive change. Our intention is to host meaningful dialogue that will start to shape what our work is to do with clarity and purpose. So, bring your challenges, ideas, hopes and dreams. This is not just a workshop; it's a platform for collaboration, learning, and creating solutions as a collective for more equitable and inclusive school systems.
“When we link our arms and move forward together, we find human.”
Looking forward to your unique and inspiring contributions.
